WELCOME TO L.L. LEE'S NEW BLOG

A BLOG THAT DISCUSSES L.L. LEE'S BOOKS. ALL OF THE NOVELS HAVE STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS. SOME OF THE BOOKS SUCH AS THOSE IN THE SISTERS SERIES ARE HUMOROUS. OTHERS, LIKE JUDE'S BENCH OR A BENCH ON THE BEACH ARE MORE SERIOUS. AND IN SENIOR CAMP 2035, THE WOMEN PROTAGONISTS FACE HORROR WITH BRAVERY AND DETERMINATION IN DIRE CIRCUMSTANCES.

L.L. Lee Novels: SENIOR CAMP 2035

L.L. Lee Novels: SENIOR CAMP 2035: Senior Camp 2035 takes place in dystopian America. Seniors, Mimi and her best friend, Lula are "invited" to attend the camp in Dome City New Orleans where they believe they will competing in sports activities for fabulous prizes. Their excitement turns to horror when they discover the inconceivable, terrifying reason behind the annual camps being held nationally.
My latest novel is a scary one. It's hard to imagine what might happen in the future if America is ruled by a dictator and if terrorism both local and international has changed the whole make-up of society. Today all of our institutions are being attacked. We no longer feel safe in our schools, our churches, our entertainment venues. Imagine what might happen in 2035. Our medical care systems are totally flawed today, so what does a government do in the future when the elderly become a burden? If you read this blog, I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter. On a more positive note, there is redemption in the novel. In a novel so dark, there needs to be.

SENIOR CAMP 2035

Senior Camp 2035 takes place in dystopian America. Mimi and her best friend, Lula are "invited" to attend the camp in Dome City New Orleans where they expect to compete for fabulous prizes such as guarded vacation homes and yachts. Excitement turns to fear, then to horror when they realize they might be competing for their lives.
Imagine living in a future society run by a dictator whose solution to the expense of medical care for the elderly in the county might be . . .might be too unbelievable to even contemplate.
Be prepared to be scared because unlike other L.L.Lee novels, this one won't make you laugh. It does, however, have strong women characters.

MAMA AND THE FOREVER SAINTS FAN CLUB

Recently two friends on Facebook posted discussions about the mothers they lost, one recently and one many years ago. As reflected in their posts, we never get over the loss of our mothers. Mine passed five years ago and like my friends, my mother lives on in my memories, in my heart. But I am also blessed to be able to keep her alive in my writing. In my inspirational memoir, The Forever Saints Fan Club, my mother lives on as seen in the excerpt below:
.
I wonder about Mama in Heaven. I suppose I wonder about all of the members of my Forever Saints Fan Club. I try to envision where they are and what Heaven looks like and what they are doing. I am a writer and so I can create whatever I want when it comes to Heaven. And so for Mama, I ask myself, “Did she go looking for St. Lucy? Or Saint Jude? Or Saint Anthony?”
I ask myself how Mama is occupying her time. It’s hard for me to envision her in any other way except to see her in her recliner, reading or watching TV or visiting with family or even taking her meals there in the living room. Because that’s how I saw her for the last few years of her life.
But I believe Mama did go looking for and found her favorite saints in Heaven. And, I believe she is still watching over her family here on earth. I can just see her now having a  conversation with St. Lucy about the eyesight of her aging children still on this earth. Telling her St. Lucy that she needs to help us.  I can also see St. Lucy rolling her eyes and thinking maybe she had better look into the matter or she wouldn’t have a bit of peace.
I don’t know how Mama spends her time in Heaven. But one thing, I know for sure is the fact that Mama is still watching the New Orleans Saints with perfect vision now. She’s still cheering them on.

MY LITTLE MEMOIR

I watched the New Orleans Saints lose today and felt very sad. My little tribute, The Forever Saints Fan Club is now on the market, but I have mixed feelings about promoting it as a Saints Team tribute. Because it really is a tribute to four people I loved very much who loved the Saints as much as they loved me. My husband, Mike, my mother, Mama, my sister, Diane and my best friend, Linda were avid, totally devoted Saints fans. I remember them in this little memoir because I loved them and because they inspired me to be a better person.
My four loved ones would have taken the loss today with disappointment, but without giving up on them. The loved the Saints unconditionally. They would be looking forward to next weeks game. On the other hand, I remain a fair-weather fan. I can't handle loss of any kind. So, I am sad today because I watched this game without them. I still need them to give me hope for all the losses in my life. I wrote The Forever Saints Fans as an inspirational tribute. But it is my loved ones who I need to inspire me. To give me hope. To say, "Just wait til next week."
